Psychology Services
Clinical psychologists provide specialist, evidence-based clinical psychological assessment and therapy services to adults suffering psychological disorders and to older adults and their carers and adults with alcohol or drug dependency problems. They work closely with other members of community mental health teams and primary care teams to provide integrated services. They provide in-service training, supervision, consultancy and research to enhance professional skills and service quality in mental health provision across West Dorset. Primary care counsellors provide high-quality insight-based counselling to people suffering life-event adjustment difficulties.

The new Dorset Primary Care Trust came into being on 1 October 2006. The Trust was formed by the merger of North Dorset Primary Care Trust, South West Dorset Primary Care Trust and South and East Dorset Primary Care Trust.
